Making a difference

How do I try to make a difference in the world?

I’m a strong believer that if we all do a little of something, it can add up to a lot of everything. For me, having an ethical business has to include giving something back on a personal level. There are thousands of great causes out there, all needing just a little of something from you, whether it’s time, money, publicity or sweat!
I actively support these charities:

Breakthrough Breast Cancer

This UK charity actively researches the causes and treatments of breast cancer. I participate in their Generations Study, a vast, long-term research study with over 100,000 women participating.

Children with Cancer (formerly Children with Leukaemia)

This UK charity funds life-saving research into the causes, prevention and treatment of childhood leukaemia and other childhood cancers. Every little bit helps, which is why I sell their charity raffle tickets.

Anthony Nolan Trust

Helping people while I’m still here, the UK charity that registers bone marrow/stem cell donors for people who need transplants. I’m on their Register, it’s easy to join and they are always in desperate need of donors from ethnic minorities.

Organ Donor Register

Helping people after I’m gone, the UK still requires you to actively opt-in to the Organ Donor register – do it online today. Take a look at T’s site and let her know once you’ve registered – read all about her story too.

Other charities

In my fitter days as a 5k runner, I’ve raised money for Guide Dogs UK, the Samaritans and Parkinson’s UK. The Husband and Pukey the Cat also support the RSPCA.

All of these little somethings add to a lot of everything for me – how do you want to make a difference today?
